What We Do

OUR PURPOSE

Talking Hands Preschool

A state-of-the-art learning center that provides premier education to both Deaf and hearing students. At Talking Hands Preschool, teachers communicate to children through American Sign Language and use modern tools (such as tablets, computers, and educational software) alongside traditional educational tools for learning. To better equip the students as they reach for higher levels of education, other needs such as uniforms, shoes, and school supplies are also provided. A Deaf Parent Support Group also meets regularly for seminars and workshops to boost their children’s learning.

Ear Care Program

A program that focuses on ear health. Deaf children and youth are provided with extensive ear health solutions. Each individual receives assessments for early detection of ear health problems such as injuries and infections. Hearing aids and aftercare are then regularly replaced and provided. Orientations and seminars on ear health and hygiene are attended by both the child and the parent to ensure that their ears and their hearing aids are always in good condition.

Better Vision

Other than conducting ear examinations and treatments, Talking Hands also provide the Deaf eye care such as eye examinations, providing eyeglasses, visual therapy and other eye health solutions to ensure comfort in learning.

Medical Program

Our Deaf students’ well being is our top priority. That is why we partner with medical support groups who provide annual checkups, vaccines, and other medical aid to ensure their holistic well-being.

Dental Program

Did you know that oral health affects ear health as well? According to experts, poor oral health increases the risk to the development or worsening of hearing loss. For our Deaf children and youth’s dental care, we provide regular checkups, oral prophylaxis and tooth extractions.

Science Technology English Math (STEM)

Our Deaf preschool has a STEM curriculum which focuses on subjects that are timely and significant in this era of technology and globalization. Apart from the traditional lessons such as Science, English and Math, our students learn from advanced learning softwares through tablets and computers.

We are heavily focused on advanced computer classes where they learn speed-typing, photoshop and other advanced computer skills which we have found significant to employment. Higher level students have regular advanced remedial classes where they learn different skills that they can use to improve their employability.   Our computers are also always available for our students when come to our center for homework and research.

CSAP (Child Sexual Abuse Prevention)

Our goal for this program is to empower our students to become self-aware and vigilant towards sexual abuse by equipping them with self-defense trainings involving Muay Thai and Martial Arts, providing orientations and conducting art therapy classes. School visits are also regularly done to spread awareness on child sexual abuse and how to prevent it. Both the Deaf and hearing children and youth have access to our CSAP programs.
